Game 7 American League Championship Series

Boston Creates History

Crane, Poole & Schmidt is a ghost town. Go wherever you need to be to witness history, but I recommend Det. Woodrow "Woody" Hoyt's bar Pogue Mahone tonight for the showdown. It's a cop bar, so let's leave our occupations at the door. (Let's not leak this to Pete at the 21st Amendment or I'll have to face his Sox bat tomorrow)

Riot police are on stand-by to protect Steinbrenner's private box, 'cause we're going to kick some Yankee ass.

October 20 @ 8:00 p.m. ET
TV: FOX | Radio: ESPN Radio, Boston: WEEI 850
Listen to postgame coverage online at this Boston sports station

Watch your back, Carolina. You need to shrug off your *wordlessly mouths* New Yorkness for the post season.

Don't we have our own company riot squad to deal with the likes of her? If not, I think it would be a sound investment.

*smirks* Especially once the World Series is underway.

Remember double-headers at Memorial Stadium, Brad?

*smiles* And the 7th inning stretch when everyone sang "Thank God, I'm a country boy"

Poor John Denver. Requiscet in pace.

Bottom of the 8th--no change.

Earl Weaver (manager of Orioles when they were a winning ball club) anecdote:

blurb from the Times-Herald, Olean NY (6/5/04, retired contributer Joe Downy) made me lol. hope you enjoy it.

... LOS ANGELES: In watching a Mets-Dodgers game this season, the name of Earl Weaver, former feisty and highly successful manager of the Baltimore Orioles in the 1980s and 1990s, came up. After striking out with the bases loaded, Weaver chewed out then-Orioles outfielder Pat Kelly. Kelly’s retort “Earl, you need to learn to walk with the Lord.” Said Weaver: “Kelly, you need to learn to walk with the bases loaded.”

Remember? I still have this weird charley horse thing from that. Camden Yards has better memories, Sam. Be sure to switch over and cheer for the right team.

The right team? The Orioles didn't make the playoffs this year.

You're starting to worry me, Brad. First Kerry, now this.

You can't be well. Go lie down for awhile.

Hell, Shore. We'll just throw a face plate on you. Alan Shore: first line of defense.

My abilities tend more toward the offensive. Wouldn't you agree?

*laughs* Sometimes you are such a giver - that's just way to easy. Come to think of it, let's just forgoe the face plate.

I was rooting for the Yankees, Brad. It that a crime?

*snicker that turns into a slight snort, then blinks*

Oh, and I wanna file a complaint.

Ok *sighs* What's he done now.

October 20 2004, 16:35:13 UTC 7 years ago

Right. What didn't he do, then.

*I flip on all the lights at Crane, Poole & Schmidt at 6 am Thursday. First one in because I kicked back with a massive Stephen King novel in a bubble bath instead of watching a bunch of boys throw their balls around.

Speaking of boys, the lobby was pretty disgusting. There were half-filled wine glasses, overturned shot glasses and empty bottles at reception. There were an inordinate number of empty Pellgrino bottles on my desk. God, Brad. I get to work cleaning them up, wondering why Teresita hadn't come in to do it.

By the time the first lawyer rolled in at 8, the place looked spiffy and I was well into chapter 8 of "Christine" *

'Morning, Decca. What's on the agenda this morning?

[info]decca_crane

October 21 2004, 18:29:27 UTC 7 years ago

*I put down my book and pick up my planner*

Says here you have a staff meeting at 9, the Mahoney deposition's at 1 and there is a pending jury voir dire set for 3. At some point between appointments you will want to schedule in time to clean the bar - er, your office of a dozen used wine glasses and a case of empty Pellgrinos.

*I get up to get his coffee, thinking I might have to seek revenge by using cream and sugar*

[info]brad_chase

October 21 2004, 18:32:00 UTC 7 years ago

*I watch her leave, glance over to my office and see the work that awaits me through the glass panel. Someone's been taking Shore lessons*

October 21 2004, 18:50:05 UTC 7 years ago

*As I stir in a 3rd spoonful of Sanka into the lukewarm water, I think about using some idle time practicing my aim for Saturdays paintball activities. Yeah, I think I have a rubberband arsenal in my desk. Brad's door nameplate at 10 yards. I smirk as I pour in a generous amount of non-dairy creamer from a crusty carton*

Do you know why the custodian didn't remove these from the premises? For that matter, why are they in my office?

*I look around for Shore, but there's no way he'd be in before 8 to do this*

*on edge* This is certainly not efficient for me to perform these duties.

*I take the mug Decca offers, drink - and nearly gag*
